01Is this legal advice?
No. filecanada.ca provides general information and guided workflows. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal, accounting, or tax advice.
02Is Ontario the only supported province?
Ontario is the first supported province for the MVP. Other provinces may appear in the questionnaire for planning, but automated filing guidance is focused on Ontario.
03Do I need a corporation?
Not always. A sole proprietorship can be enough for low-risk testing. A corporation can make sense when you need more structure for liability, contracts, cofounders, hiring, or long-term growth.
04What is the difference between named and numbered corporations?
A numbered corporation uses an automatically assigned legal name. A named corporation uses a custom legal name and may require extra name-search steps before filing.
05Do I need GST/HST?
It depends on revenue and business activity. Many businesses review GST/HST registration when taxable revenue approaches $30,000 over four consecutive calendar quarters, but your situation may vary.
06What happens after I get a recommendation?
Your dashboard organizes the suggested structure, setup checklist, document placeholders, and compliance reminders so you can work through the next steps.
07Can filecanada.ca file for me?
The product is being built toward guided filing workflows. For now, the MVP focuses on recommendations, organization, and support requests while the filing experience is prepared.
08Why do I need an account?
An account lets filecanada.ca save your questionnaire responses, recommendation, setup tasks, support requests, and dashboard progress securely across devices.
09What information is saved?
When you are signed in, filecanada.ca can save your questionnaire answers, business profile, recommendation, task progress, document placeholders, and support requests. Draft answers may also be saved locally in your browser before sign-in.
