How File Canada expects to handle information from jurisdiction-aware recommendations and managed filing workflows.

This draft requires review and approval by qualified Canadian legal counsel before production publication.

Draft effective date: September 3, 2026

Information we collect

We collect account details, questionnaire answers, business and filing information, support messages, and records needed to deliver purchased services. Stripe processes payment-card details; File Canada does not receive full card numbers. We may store province or jurisdiction selections and questionnaire answers even when a result requires review; filing-case and payment records are created only for purchased managed packages.

We may also collect device, security, and product-usage information to prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and improve the service. Anonymous questionnaire drafts may be stored in the browser until they are saved to an account or cleared.

How we use and disclose information

We use information to provide recommendations, prepare filing work, communicate case updates, secure accounts, meet legal obligations, and operate the product. We disclose only what is reasonably needed to service providers, payment processors, government registries, and professional advisers supporting those purposes.

Storage, retention, and safeguards

Filing records and documents are retained for operational, tax, compliance, dispute, and legal requirements. Access is limited by role and account ownership, and official documents are stored in private storage. Final retention periods and any cross-border processing details must be confirmed during legal review.
